Over the course of his career, James discovered that the questions leaders ask often matter far more than the answers they already possess.

That realization has shaped every aspect of his professional life. As a Molecular Biologist, entrepreneur, CEO, and now a Vistage Chair, James has spent decades helping organizations navigate uncertainty, make difficult decisions, and build organizations capable of long-term success.

His journey has included founding and leading biotechnology companies, raising capital, developing new technologies, building executive teams, and making the countless decisions that every CEO eventually faces. Along with his professional achievements, James earned a PhD in Molecular Biology, was a Post-doctoral fellow at Harvard, became an inventor on more than 120 patents, and has continued leading ENDECE, the biotechnology company he founded in 2006.

Yet those experiences taught him something unexpected. The hardest leadership problems are rarely technical. They are human. They involve judgment, perspective, courage, and the willingness to challenge our own assumptions before circumstances force us to.

This is why James chose to become a Vistage Chair in addition to leading ENDECE. He knows first hand the importance of a CEO become the best version of themselves, and even better leaders—not by giving them answers, but by creating the environment where they can discover better ones. After all, it is the quality of a leader's thinking that ultimately determines the future of their organization.
