Dr. James Yarger is founder and Managing Partner of Yarger Executive Coaching. Over a period of 25 years, James Yarger founded and served as the CEO of two biopharmaceutical companies. He was responsible for company formation, scientific and business strategy, business development, executive development, fundraising over $41,000,000, and coaching managers. James Yarger successfully sold his first company prior to starting his second company which now holds over 110 issued patents worldwide. Importantly, to be successful, James Yarger learned through experience what was required to be a successful leader of a high performing company, from startup through the many stages of growth. His experience is a catalyst for tailored coaching to CEOs, Executives and teams that want to become and can become high performing organizations (“Experience-based Coaching”).

Dr. Yarger holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from Brandeis University and was a Post-doctoral Fellow at Harvard. He is the author of 13 scientific publications, 24 published scientific abstracts, and holds over 120 issued patents worldwide.

What We Do

We provide coaching to CEOs, Executives, and Corporate Teams. We work with CEOs who have the task of growing companies along with founding entrepreneurs who have the daunting task of starting a company. Leadership skills we coach are different for startup vs growth stage companies. However, if a company is to grow successfully, the leaders must develop specific skills critically important to effectively lead their companies through any of four key stages of company growth.

Why We Do It

Dr. James Yarger, Managing Partner of Yarger Executive Coaching, has first-hand experience leading companies. As the founder and CEO of two biotechnology companies, he understands the difficulties and stresses associated with being a leader. He learned that if a CEO is not capable of effectively leading people, their business will never become the high performing company they had envisioned… or worse. With his success over the past 25 years, Dr. James Yarger now has the passion to coach, teach and mentor CEOs the skills required to become successful leaders.

How We Do It

Our Coaching process starts with an initial meeting in which we discuss what defines success for the CEO, where the CEO needs help, and to what extent the CEO recognizes and accepts that they may need to learn additional leadership skills in addition to honing the skills they may already have.

The skills required by a founder leading a startup company are different than the leadership skills required to grow a company. During coaching, Yarger Executive Coaches do not run a CEOs company for them. Instead we Coach, teach and mentor the CEOs to successfully run their companies themselves.
