During initial discussions with new clients, there is often confusion concerning the difference between an executive business Coach and a business Consultant.  It is very important for a CEO to understand that one solves a problem for them and the other helps them anticipate and solve a problem for themselves.  So, what does YEC do?  Let’s first explain the difference.

Business Consultant:  CEOs from time-to-time need help finding solutions to specific problems that arise as their business grows.   For example, a Consultant may be needed to help a CEO improve sales, streamline or implement HR, implement a cyber security program, etc.  For each of these problems, a very specialized business Consultant is hired who will take a hands-on approach to solve the problem.  By definition, every business Consultant has a specific agenda which is to solve a defined problem for the CEO and then leave.  YEC is not a business Consultant.

Business Coach:  An Executive business Coach has no agenda and does not utilize a “hands-on” approach to solving a CEO’s problems.  Instead, an Executive business Coach works with each CEO over the long term to continuously improve their leadership skills allowing the CEO to make the best decisions at each stage of their company’s growth.  A good Executive business Coach keeps CEOs focused “on” their business and not “in” their business.

YEC is an Executive business Coach:   Being a highly successful CEO means being the best during every step of your leadership journey.  However, being the best does not mean always being right or always succeeding.  Being the best means learning from small failures which will happen.  Being the best means learning how to more quickly anticipate the need for and then implement appropriate changes along the way.  Without a Coach, learning how to succeed from small failures can be a slow and painful process.   So, how can an Executive business Coach help you?

Executive business Coaches will prepare you to recognize and predict where hiccups might occur (inside and outside your company).  The Executive business Coach will enhance your leadership skill sets required to lead your company as a high performing company.

At YEC, we guide CEOs through the different and sometimes difficult phases of their company’s growth.  We founded and successfully grew 2 startup companies which means we were once exactly where you are now.  Compared to Coaches whose experience comes only from books or MBA programs, our Experience-based Executive Coaching means we know what each of you are going through and what leadership skills you need at each step of your company’s growth.  We know how to Coach those skills.   We look forward to Coaching you.
